There's quite a story to go with this fella. He had a rough start
in life and really shouldn't have survived. It was his sheer
determination and a little help from us that he did. After
23 days of being bottled fed his mama's milk and then milk replacer,
he finally got the coordination to find the udder himself.
His mama amazingly started to produce her milk again. Guess she
wasn't giving up on him either. And so "Shadow" then started his
life as a normal horse, growing up and playing with the other foals.
He did suffer some leg growth problems which resulted in offset knees.
We have allowed him to grow and mature before putting any stress on him
with saddle training. He's been through the round pen basics now
and will be broke to ride. He is affectionate and
craves the people contact, though not misbehaved as some hand raised
horses can be. We don't anticipate any soundness problems with him
under saddle although he won't likely be able to be a jumper! He
will only be sold to someone who understands his limits and is willing
to develop him into a great trail horse or companion.
